Making Ocean & Monmouth County Backyard Look Great!

We design and build custom decks, pavilions, and pergolas the way the rest of our work gets done, with our own carpentry crew from layout to the last piece of trim, and one person you can call when you have a question. Antonio Merino founded Delmer Home Improvements in Howell in 2015 after 20+ years framing and finishing work across New Jersey. Decks are carpentry, and we are carpenters first. What Kind Of Exterior Project Are You Planning?

Custom Decks

Composite decks, PVC decks, and hardwood decks built to the layout of your yard, not a stock plan. Trex, TimberTech, and AZEK are our most installed brands, with pressure treated pine and mahogany available when the budget or look calls for it. Multi level decks, wraparound decks, pool decks, and second story decks are all in the regular rotation. Hidden fasteners, picture frame borders, and aluminum or cable railing are standard upgrades we walk through on the site visit.

Custom Pergolas

Open top and louvered pergolas in cedar, mahogany, or aluminum. Pergolas are the right pick when you want defined outdoor space and partial shade without the cost or footings of a roofed structure. We build freestanding pergolas over patios and decks, and attached pergolas off the back of the house with a ledger. Adjustable louvered roofs and integrated lighting are common add ons.

Pavilions

Full roof outdoor pavilions with engineered post and beam framing, real rafters, and finished ceilings. Pavilions give you rain protection, full shade, and a true outdoor room you can use from spring through late fall. Cedar tongue and groove ceilings, recessed lighting, ceiling fans, and gas or wood burning fireplaces are the upgrades most clients ask about. Footings and load engineering get done right, not estimated.

Outdoor Kitchens

Outdoor kitchens built into a deck, pavilion, or standalone patio. Stone or stucco veneer over a framed cabinet base, granite or porcelain countertops, and openings sized to your grill, side burner, fridge, and storage drawers. We coordinate the gas line, electrical, and plumbing rough ins with our trade partners so the build hits inspection clean the first time.

Questions & Preparation

Decks & Exterior Remodeling

A pavilion has a solid roof, full shade, and rain protection. A pergola has an open or slatted top, partial shade, and a more architectural look. Pavilions cost more because of the roof structure, footings, and load engineering.
Almost always yes. Decks more than 30 inches above grade and any roofed structure require a permit. We pull the permit and handle inspections as part of the project.
2 to 4 weeks on site for most projects once permits are issued. Permitting itself can add 2 to 6 weeks depending on the town. Pavilions with engineered roofs or outdoor kitchens take longer.
Composite (Trex, TimberTech) and PVC (AZEK) cost more upfront but skip the every other year stain and sand cycle. Pressure treated pine is the budget option but needs annual maintenance. Mahogany and ipe look beautiful but require more upkeep than people expect. We walk through the tradeoffs on the site walk.

What Sets Us Apart?

Experts At Every Step

A deck is not a side gig for us, and a pavilion is not handed off to a roofer. The same in house carpentry crew that frames our custom home builds frames your deck and your pavilion. That means tighter joints, square posts, level beams, and a finish you don't have to squint past. Most deck companies in this area sub the framing, sub the railing, and sub the roof. We don't sub any of it.

Timeless remodeling for more than 20 years.

Ready To Build A Dream Deck?

Outdoor structures are the part of the house you actually use from May through October. The build is fast compared to an addition, but the details, ledger flashing, post bases, railing connections, are what separate a deck that lasts 25 years from one that needs work in 8.
